Who I am?
I´m John and I have been doing internet marketing for a little more than one year now. I know that is not a very long time, but I have managed to make a living completely online within a year. I was also able to quit my “normal” 9-5 job in as little as 9 months after starting my online business, and I want to show you what has worked for me.
I am a normal person just like you, and I want to make more money and also been able to not be stuck in the “9-5 system”. I wanted to have more time to spend on other things in life, that desire was really all I needed to create a successful online business.
You Will Not Get Rich Overnight
Get this thought out of your head! The “get rich quick” mentality is exactly what will make you try the scams online. It can be tempting to try such programs (I have also been scammed online in the past) but they NEVER work.
Just like any job or business in the world, you will need to put in the work and effort that is needed to get you where you want to be.
For me, I was ready to invest 3 whole years into my online business if it meant that I was able to quit my job, have more time to spend on other things and be financially free.
Did it happen? Well, like I said, I have only been doing this internet marketing thing for a little more than 1 year and I am already making more money than I did with any other 9-5 job I have ever had. After 9 months, I was able to quit my job and only doing internet marketing. So I can only imagine what year 2 and 3 will bring! What about year 5?? I am really so glad I made this decision and will never regret it.
So with that being said, here are the top 5 online ways to go, that have not only worked for me (and A LOT of other people) but also offer the best value in the business.
1: Internet Marketing
This is without a doubt the absolute best (and most solid) way to make money online. Although I consider this as my #1 recommendation there are some things that might make you want to choose a different path.
The biggest “turn off” with this is that it is not going to make you money right away. If you looking for some type of “quick money deal”, this is not going to work for you.
However, if you want to build something that will make you money over and over and over and over, and over again, then this might be the “job” for you.
This is exactly what I do for the most part and it is basically pretty much almost hundred percent of what my online income earnings are made from. It took me about 3 months to make my first 8 dollars, but after that, things just went through the roof!
If you are not in a hurry and want to build a secure income and maybe also want to quit your job? Then this is definitely what you need to do.
Where to get started
2: Become a virtual assistant
This job will not make you rich but it will allow you to make some extra money. The job consists of creating schedules and working with programs like Microsoft word.
What type of job you do really depends on the person you will be working for.
How much you can earn: About $10 – $35 per hour, depending on your employer.
How you will get paid: Mostly via payment processors like Paypal for example. It is a secure way to transfer money online, so you do not have to worry about not getting paid.

3: Work as a freelance writer
This job requires a lot of writing. The best part about it is that you can do it on your own time and also choose what you write about. You will also start to earn and get paid fast.
It is not my favourite choice to make money, but it can make you some cash if you like to write. Some of the writing jobs pay as much as $120 per hour so if you take it seriously you can probably make between $1,000- $5,000 a month so this could probably replace your job and is the obvious choice for a “writer”

4: Create a Blog
I love the concept of blogging. I mean, who gets paid to write (or talk) about things they enjoy doing? Not many people.
I created my first blog last year and I really had no idea how it was going to turn into money. But I knew people were making money doing it, so I wanted to do the same.
There is A LOT more to it than just putting up a website and talking about what you enjoy doing. You need to learn how to monetize it (make money) and get traffic (visitors).
Where to get started
Wealthyaffiliate.com (#1 recommendation)
5: Build your own website and make money from it
It is easy nowadays to build a website, you don´t need any experience at all actually and you can have one up 10 minutes from now if you want, and completely for FREE. When you got a website there are MANY ways to make money from it.

Go and Make Money!
These are the top 5 most profitable ways that I have found in my online career. There is also other ways, but they are very risky so I leave them out of this post.
Working from home is not something for everyone, but if you put in the time and effort needed to make money online, then you will be surprised of what is really possible.
I hope you found this post helpful and that you now got some ideas on what you can do to make money online. God luck with whatever you choose!
I wish you the best!

I totally agree that it takes a long time– 3 years is a good benchmark– to get an online business, or any kind really, off the ground. A lot of people get frustrated and go back to their day jobs because it takes a lot of time to really grow a following and reputation.
But as someone who also works online gigs, I really want to point out that Elance/Upwork is a crapshoot and when it comes to writing gigs especially…Freelancer is a den of savagery. I was on both for about a year doing various writing and consulting gigs and roughly 50% of the paying clients I got from Elance were great, the other 50% were people who fought with me about fees and basically expected the world for less than what the work was worth. Freelancer was just horrendous all around. It’s why I tell my clients and colleagues not to go on those platforms unless they seriously need to get some experience outside the 9-5 world first and have nothing to show in their portfolio, or need that last $100 to not get evicted. I quit those race-to-the-bottom platforms because they were so frustrating for what amounted to shitty pay.
If you’ve exhausted your network and need a virtual assistant, consulting, education, healthcare, or even art and AV kind of gig ranging from one-time to long-term– FlexJobs is a great place to look.
FJ covers numerous industries and you can even look for a regular PT or FT job that’s purely telecommute, or various gigs. It’s up to you. Everything is vetted by their human staff who I have personally interacted with as a member, contributor to their blog, and affiliate partner. There are no scams, and you don’t have to beg someone to pay you $100 to write a 50,000-word e-book. Their membership fee works out to be a lot lower than Elance’s monthly plans where instead of using “connects” to apply to gigs, you pay that fee then you’re good for a whole year. I had some copywriting gigs that paid garbage through FJ, but am now doing a super sweet education consulting gig that’s about 10 hours a week and working out to be about $4K when the project’s over. Waaay better than fighting for a nickel a word gig. 🙂

Well, it can of course go faster than 3 years also, but I think when you start out you should be prepared to put at least 3 years on it.
Interesting what you say about freelancer and Elance, it is actually not the first time I have heard complaints about it from people. Hmm..
Never heard about your recommendation, to be honest, sounds like a great place, going to check it out!
Thanks a lot for your comment Rachel!

Thank you Rocsi! Glad you like my blog 🙂 I haven´t wrote a post about freelancer.com but it works pretty much the same way as Fiverr. You can either buy or sell services there.

I absolutely understand that and you should know that nobody is happier than me when I point out the direction for people so they can start to learn how it really works instead of jumping from scam to scam.
Thank you for your comment and glad I could help.
