Richard Saghian is the guy who founded the whole company from scratch back in 2006, you have to give him credit for how he really understand how much you can capitalize with only ONE simple technique today… social media.

This is something ANYONE can do to create a highly profitable business online with a very low start-up budget. I will come to that further down in this post.
Their history (and tactic)
They started up the business as a solely online “e-commerce” store back in November 2006 and has in this very short time been able to open up physical stores in both Manhattan New York and in Los Angeles. Today they have more than 200 employees.
That is a very impressive development for something that started out as a small business just a few years back.
It is also pretty easy to see that this is a company that pretty much started out by kind of “copy” the higher priced fashion trend clothes and made a Chinese manufacturer “copy” the style and create something very similar in both style and quality for a very low cost.
Nowadays they have their own factory in California where they manufacture their own clothes though.
Cheap GREAT clothes at Fashion Nova?
Who cares, right? I mean if you are able to get clothes looking the same, or in many cases even better than the expensive luxury stuff for a waaay cheaper price.
I mean, for someone into clothes and fashion this is a gold mine. You can buy a new wardrobe for the same price you would have needed to give for a pair of “luxury” shoes.
Both are probably made in China anyway, the difference is probably a lot smaller than 99.99% of what any person can notice.

Is Fashion Nova a Scam?
So, is Fashion Nova a scam? I would say it is absolutely not a scam, I would call this a great (and very smart) business idea that you also should be inspired from instead.
If you look on their Instagram account you can see that there are a lot of customers/clients asking questions there, you will also find alot of replies from Fashion Nova that are not very friendly and service minded… to say the least.. Hmm, I wonder how much bigger they would have been if they treated their clients the way a business SHOULD treat their clients…
In the “business book of the law” or if you prefer “the unwritten rule” of a business you should always be nice to your clients and satisfied their needs. ALWAYS.

Think about it, they have become this monster big in such short amount of time simply buying clothes from China and selling them for a great profit, using social media to market their products… Without even being very nice to people…
What could you be able to achieve if you did the same but instead was being nice? Do you think you could maybe even have done it faster?
How can you do the same?
Ok, I am not saying that it is an easy thing to do. It requires a lot of work, consistent dedication over a longer period of time.
I am not saying that you need to be the same “big booty size” as Fashion Nova 😉 but you can without a doubt be able to quit your 9-5 and make a full-time living from doing something similar, in WHATEVER niche you would want to.
It is way easier than you might think to get started with an e-commerce store!
If you don´t know how to market your product I have great news for you, it is easier than ever nowadays as social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook (to name 2 of the biggest ones) are capable of letting you reach out to millions of people in an instant.
You could build up your business account from scratch without paying a dime, it will take time though. However, if you pay for advertising this can go very fast. You can, for example, reach out to “influencers” in whatever niche you are planning to go into and ask them to advertise for you in exchange for money (or your products).

Look at what the owner (of FashionNova) himself say on how they got such a huge following on Instagram:
When we started our Instagram page a year or so ago, we were averaging ten thousand followers a day. All these influencers were buying and tagging us in their pictures on Instagram. That’s when we started going viral.

You can also use the advertising service that both Instagram and Facebook (and all of the other social media platforms got) and start advertising yourself, targeting EXACTLY whatever persons you want based on their age, gender, interests, etc.

Ok, I know many of you think I should give a higher rating due to the fact that this business is a HUGE success in the short amount of time it has been alive. However, the “poor” client service and support are what really takes the rating down. The complaints are just too many to be ignored.
I mean, a huge and successful business should absolutely have great customer support.
Just look on the absolute biggest brands in the world, no matter if it is clothes, shoes, tech stuff or whatever it is. They all offer excellent support and treat their clients the way they should be.

But today I know a lot of your site how the system performs overall.
Sometimes I rather spend some time to read the review in order to make sure my money are well spent online.
And I will make sure my wife aware of this also because she shops a lot from online. She buys all her clothes from online nowadays.
The poor customer service and no return policy are ridiculous. I wonder would they sustain long enough if the complaint keeps growing. ?
Thorough research John. It looks like you did some digging, good for you. Bravo! I read the entire review and loved it. I looked at Fashion Nova’s site, I’m not impressed. For me, quality and customer service matter more than price. Your customers are your gold mine, keep them happy and they will produce much success for your business and spread the positive words. When I find a good company, I tell everyone and the same goes for a bad company.
I had bad days dealing with Fashion Nova customer service. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEVER Buying from them AGAIN.

John how long will they be in business if they keep this up? Bad business ethics if you treat you customers like crap. Don’t take your existing customers for granted, or your existing customers may become someone else’s new customers. If you don’t treat them well, you can bet someone else will. Think of your current customers as if they were still unsold potential buyers. They deserve just as much attention as new customers do. Simple things like returning their phone calls and staying in contact after a sales will improve your chances of keeping your customers from deserting you.
I think They can actually be in business for a long time even IF They sometimes seems to treat Their costumers bad… The reason for that I think They can is Because They got such a solid business Idea..

I purchased from Fashion Nova for the first time last month. The shipment took way longer than they promised and I only received a partial order. They didn’t refund me for the items they didn’t send, they just sent me a gift card. REALLY bad business practices. But…I loved everything that I got! So, as annoying as it is to deal with them I’ve already put in two new orders. The quality was way better than any other low priced trendy store, the fit was great as well. I’m willing to put up with bad customer service for that!!

Pissed off would be an understatement of what I am feeling right now!!! I can’t even put into words how upset I am!!! I feel taken advantage of and scammed!!! I’ve ordered from them before and recieved my order so I thought they were a trustworthy and legit company, well I thought wrong!! These people took my money and never sent my order!!! I ordered one package that was $286.19 on June 22, 2017 and the other package that was $198.19 on July 1,2017!!! This adds up to be about $484!!!!!! Still haven’t even recieved a tracking number which means neither package has been shipped yet. Which means the 2 day shipping for orders over $75 is a complete lie. I’ve watched many reviews on youtube of customers who haven’t even recieved their orders or have recieved some of the things they ordered but not all of it. Which is pretty fucked up because the items said they were in stock. I’ve also heard that when they don’t send you your order they try to make up for it by sending you this gift card that is even less than the money you spent when you purchased. If you guys can’t send customers their first orders, why would they want to order from you again???? I’ve heard so much bad shit about this company it’s ridiculous but if they are scamming they will eventually get caught!!! I’ve called Fashionnova, no response. Emailed them, no response. The only emails I’ve received from them are the same emails they send to all their customers because its AUTOMATED!!! Contacted them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, still no response. I’m going to give this one more week, after this I am done. Fashionnova send me my orders like a trustworthy, non-fraud, non-scamming company would do. I either want EVERYHTING that I ordered sent off together or my money back!! If my clothes are not shipped off in the next week and no one calls me or reaches out to my email I will have no choice but to file a claim with my bank. But I won’t stop there, I will then take this into legal matters because I do not play about MY hard earned money and cannot respect the fact you guys could potentially be stealing peoples money!!!!!! Ironically as I am reading your article I feel as if you are talking directly to me. I have worked in retail for close to 4 years and I rarely buy online. One of my friends suggested fashion nova as the hottest site so I followed their Instagram. Eventually I saw a pair of shoes I HAD TO HAVE. I had to wait almost a month for them to restock my size and once it was restocked I immediately ordered it. Well the shoes when they came fit horribly!!! I wear heels all of the time but these shoes I couldn’t even stand up straight in…. there was no way I could walk in them for more than 5 minutes. As I mentioned before I work in retail and I ordered these shoes in December. Due to working two retail jobs I was exhausted so after the holidays I finally had time to deal with returning the shoes. I emailed them to see if there was anything they could do and they left the dryest reply of no its final sale. So here I am stuck with $67 boots that I’ve never even worn. I then have actually decided myself to start my own shoe company. I make it clear on my website I provide quality, comfortable, and affordable shoes. I want to provide excellent customer service because I have seen how that can grow your business exponentially. Here is where I am stuck. I am terrible with marketing and lack capitol. This company is a JOKE! I ordered 2 dresses from them and I received a top destined to someone else. They told me my items were not in stock when I paid, but they still debited my account and to “solve” my problem, they sent me a gift card that is barely worth 1/3 of my initial expenses.
I sent emails but they won’t answer, I contacted them through messenger but never read my request and they hide my comments on Instagram.
All you can see about them on social media is compliments, which is very misleading. I don’t think they’ll last very long. Well, I hope they won’t anyway, due to all the complaints they’re trying to hide.
Yeah it seems like MANY are experience the same as you have here with the company.

Hi John. Thank you for this great post! I have never ordered from Fashionnova and decided to find reviews first. I’m glad I decided to look for reviews because they are not a replicable company. I’m so glad that people write reviews on products because they are life savers.
But, what I didn’t expect was to see information about starting my own business online. This is something I have been researching it for a few months now. But what I couldn’t figure out was how to order from merchandisers from overseas. How can you be certain that the quality is good?
But you can’t because you would have to actually fly over to China and check these things out. Was thinking about trying sell clothing for women online or baby products and then I thought about selling merchandise to veterans because I am one. Either way I have to find my niche.
But first I have to figure out how to set up an ecommerce site and get merchandise on it. Anyway, thank you for your information.

Fashion nova has the worst refund and delivery service! It’s been 3 weeks since I ordered and I still didn’t get anything plus they don’t want to refund your money unless you send the clothes back! Wich makes no sense, in my case! This store sucks, it’s like taking the money out of your pockets
I ordered for the first time from Fashion Nova due to the hype on you tube, got my order the size was not as the size chart specified. However I wanted an exchange for a different size, I was told by customer service they do not offer exchange. I had to pay for returning the item plus purchase again and also pay shipping. Now I have a credit because they do not refund. This is such a hassle and it ended up costing me more money and aggregation. Clothes not bad hit or miss, but the policy is ridiculous.

What they are doing has to be umlawful… surely they can not be allowed to ooperat. Something has he done. They are not just treating people bad they are committing a crime by fraudulently stealing from people. How is this not been shut down. I was scammed. Its a scam not a business!

Fashion Nova is a scam.
Even all website with review functionality give us Consumer Alert! Saying that they are trying to artificially inflate the rating of their business (http://take.ms/ElRXb and http://take.ms/PQuZQ)!
They are thieves. They stole my money and do not want to send it back.
Here’s a thing.
Ladies, if you are in the same situation as I am then start a fight.
– I purchased items and they were in stock.
– Payment (MY MONEY, REAL MONEY, $$$) went successfully.
– I recieved CONFIRMATION that my parcel is on it’s way.
But little did I know that after that I will receive notification saying “OOPS, you’re items out of stock we will give you an e-giftcard”.
Now, Fashion nova, I want to ask you:
1. IS IT MY PROBLEM THAT I PAID AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT I WON”T GET MY ITEM DUE TO YOU BEING OUT OF STOCK WHEN THIS ITEM ON YOUR SITE IS MARKED AS AVAILABLE?
2. WHY WON’T YOU SEND ME THIS ITEM ONCE IT IS BACK SINCE IT’S YOUR FAULT?
3. WHO TOLD YOU THAT I’M YOUR INVESTOR? WHO ALLOWED YOU TO TAKE MY MONEY WITHOUT ANY PERMISSION?
4. WHEN THE F… WILL I GET FULL REFUND ON MY CREDIT CARD BACK?
After tonns of attempts to talk with their customer service, they told me that they started MONEY REFUND process (http://take.ms/hL5kF and http://take.ms/rr8ml), but in reality they did not do anything. How did I know that? I went to my Bank and provided all information I had about this situation, they said that they wil take care of that. And they did. I got my refund AFTER 5 WEEKS from the moment “Fashion nova is a scam” company told me so.
But you know what’s funny?
Fashion Nova returned not all of my money back as a refund! And meanwhile they sent me a message saying that the proceeded all refund (http://take.ms/p3h2pI) ! THEY EVEN CALCULATED THE AMOUT TO BE REFUNDED! (http://take.ms/J4DyI). Instead of the overall sum they had to pay me they paid only $27.98!! Where is my $5.59?

First time I ordered, recieved pkg on time. Colors I dislike. Sent it back even though I had to pay shipping. I ordered different colors and expected packages arrived ob July 10th. Still nothing, tracking status shows pending. I read Q&A about where is the package. Customer Service have not contact me after 2 business days. I called and emailed…..nothing!!! I am getting really frustrated because i expected to wear sexy dress on July 28, 2018. I know i will not get any refunds, just stupid e-gift cards!!! Shitty customer service!!!! Angry client here

They charged my credit card twice! I immediately wrote back to them. They insist that they will be shipping the exact same products twice and that I will have to pay for return shipments. Then they will only give me store credit back! I’m out $200. What kind of customer service is that?!?
Reporting them to BBB and FTC!

In the whirlwind of a few weeks, I have had to open and dispute a claim with paypal to get my money back and now I have just reported them to the BBB! Will be reporting to FTC for scam-like business practices as well.
I have called FN numerous times, their customer service number doesn’t even have a human being on the other line. It just goes straight to voicemail. They are difficult to contact and either ignore your emails or answer you a generic response or don’t answer any of your questions.
When I confronted them about the 3 days processing plus 2 day shipping because my order was yet to be shipped and it’s been passed the 3 day mark, no response. When I asked to cancel/refund my order, no response. When I FINALLY opened up a claim with paypal, they emailed me back that I could cancel. Several days later, no actions or updates from them. When I emailed them asking for an estimated timeframe of when my cancel/refund would be processed, again, NO RESPONSE. When I finally escalated the claim with paypal to a dispute, they IMMEDIATELY refunded me the same day.
WHAT PISSES ME OFF is this proves that they could have easily refunded me with no difficulty, especially if it is due to their own error and negligence.
Now I know they are currently switching/expanding warehouses and thus there is a delay in processing time, BUT that was not posted on their website when I placed an order. I expected and needed my order within a certain time frame. When I emailed them numerous times about when my order would be expected to ship and mentioned their shipping/processing time on their website, THEY MAGICALLY CHANGED THE PROCESSING TIME. Plastered all over their website, said there would be shipping delays due to warehouse changes. Was it a coincidence that I emailed them regarding this and no response from them, but a couple of days later they decided to cover their own butts by changing that information on their website? I think not!
Back to my problem with canceling/refunding: paypal immediately sided with me and FN immediately refunded me my money and the dispute was automatically closed. WHAT UPSETS ME EVEN MORE is that I emailed FN several times throughout this debacle and asked for not only a CANCELLATION/REFUND, but ALSO ASKED FOR A REFUND OF MY OWN MONEY BACK INTO MY STORE CREDIT. I used a previous store credit on that transaction, but when paypal closed the case FN never sent me the store credit back. I emailed them several times and mentioned it in my conversations through paypal, FN never regarded it or responded to it.
Now, I finally emailed them a week later (have been ignoring my emails, not even an automated response) and threatened to report them to the BBB and FTC, which I recommend you do as well if they have ever done anything like this to you!
Then ALL OF A SUDDEN, they finally emailed me back and gave me my store credit with no explanations, apologies, just a bunch of generic responses again!
WHY FASHION NOVA IS A SCAM AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN: I don’t like their “no return” and “only store credit” policy. I believe it is a ploy to steal their customers money. They literally allow you put items in your cart and make a purchase, then days later they will contact you saying some items in your cart are “out of stock” and WILL AUTOMATICALLY GIVE YOU STORE CREDIT. I have argued with them before that items being in stock and me being allowed to add them to my cart and make a purchase, then being suddenly out of stock sounds like a “fashion nova problem” (management/business problem, distribution problem, customer service problem, not enough workers), not mine! It’s fashion nova’s negligence on why that even happened, why don’t I get my money back with a refund???!!!! IT IS MY MONEY AFTER ALL. But again, their “no refund” and “only store credit” policy makes it so they can do this to their customers.
THAT IS WHY FASHION NOVA IS A SCAM.
Most people will accept this and not argue with them. Thus, FN keeps stealing from their customers because OUR OWN MONEY is being automatically converted into store credit which will continuously be used at FN. They don’t care if they make mistakes because your money always gets converted into store credit and they KNOW you’re just going to make more purchases with them in the future.
THERE ARE OVER 5,000 COMPLAINTS FOR FASHION NOVA ON BBB (BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU) AND THAT’S NOT A COINCIDENCE! I’ve read online, watched youtube, and seen on instagram of thousands of other customers with the same stories or worse! They delete negative comments and ignore your emails and don’t pick up phone calls. Fashion Nova doesn’t deserve to be in business. Period.
