You hear the word YOLO everywhere online. what is YOLO for me? What is Yolo for
you? Maybe the meaning is different for you than it is for me? YOLO for some people are much different than YOLO is for someone else.
First of all to those who do not know the meaning of YOLO it is: Y = You O = Only L = Live O = Once. So when someone types YOLO they mean something like: You only live once so you better live life to the fullest! YOLO! :o)
What is YOLO for You ?
So what is YOLO for you then? What are your goals in life? Do you want to party as much as you can? Maybe you want to have sex with as many people as you can before you die? Maybe you want to take a lot of drugs because you only live once? Or is YOLO for you something else? Maybe you want to make money? Maybe you want to create your own career in something you like? Maybe you want to spread love to your family and friends while you are alive? Or maybe you want to do all in your power to change the world? What goals do you have?
Who are you?
What is YOLO for me ?
If you would have ask me what YOLO was when I was around 16 years old (people didn´t use the word YOLO that time) and still in school I would probably have told you something like this: Party, drinking, take a lot of drugs and fuck a lot of bitches… That is nothing that I am proud of but that is pretty much how it was back then… Really it was really selfish of me to think like that. Today it is a different story.
Now I feel really bad if I waste time. and YOLO for me now is not what it was when I was 16. To be honest I wish it was like it is now back then but you can not rewind time so there is no point looking back in regret. We should always look forward because we can not change the past, right?
For me nowadays yolo is: Getting better at doing things, try to improve the life of me and my family and friends, work hard, and what is most important: to NOT waste time!
I see a lot of young people but also older people who uses YOLO on facebook, youtube, instagram etc. And they still think of YOLO as PARTY as much as you can!! Come on people that is just bullshit! It is selfish as f##k!!
That is really tragic because you can not help anyone in your family with party for example. Party and get high do NOT pay your bills! Party and fuck around do NOT put food on the table for your children. Party do NOT make the world a better place. Party do NOT make you any good really! I do not say that you should never do it, of course it is ok sometimes to have fun but ONLY Sometimes.
You have a responsibility as a human being, we all have. It is not ok to bullshitting life because we do not have a limitless amount of it. Our time on planet Earth is limited and also we do not know how much time we have.
You or me could die tomorow we do not know when… That is the thing, what if you die tomorow? What would you leave to your family? Do you leave problems to them or do you leave them proud of you?
How do you leave this planet?? Better or worse??
So is YOLO the same for you as it is for me and what is it that you want to do in this life?
Think about it!
Who are you?

WOW man, This really opened a new meaning to YOLO for me LOL. I agree with you 100% on that one. Time is one of the most important gifts that we all have.
Maybe I am just getting old, but for me YOLO does not mean that I should party till my shoes fall off, but rather to do something in your life that has meaning to yourself and others.
We only live once and once the hourglass stop, you are finished, game over. Life is not like a computer game where you can restart or load where you last saved.

Hey, John.
What an interesting way to express a topic on an article! Personally, I became sick of the YOLO phase as soon as it happened. Every time someone shouts YOLO, it typically means they are about to do something stupid. To me, this makes no sense. “You only have one life to live, so let’s put that in jeopardy and do something stupid! YOLO!”
But anyways, it’s good that you have cleaned up your priorities. For some, it takes a long time to get on the right track, and others may not get there at all. I’m sure all of us were in a similar boat around that age… I find it to be a product of our media, personally.
Good luck, John. Great article.

I agree with you to a hundred percent! Thanks Cory!

I agree, I think there are two sides of “YOLO” – the first is the idea that our time is limited so we must indulge ourselves in everything to the max. This approach just leads to over-consumption, chasing highs, and short sighted actions.
The second, and I think better, approach is that our time is limited, so being conscious of making a meaningful impact with your life, whether it’s on your friends, family, community, or strangers. Being able to enjoy the moment AND grasp that life is a journey, and having the will to balance those aspects, will ultimately make your only life a great one.
